I started a new blog the other day about how to help an alcoholic and I wanted to make it into a case study so you could see how I go about creating passive income. I will be showing you how I do things every step of the way so if you want to follow along then this case study will allow you to do that.
The blog is a free blogger blog that is hosted and created entirely for free on blogger.com. Anyone can go there and start a free blog and if you can’t figure out how to do this I am sure someone over at Google will walk you through it if you type in the right questions.
I have 2 goals for this blog, a short term goal and a long term goal.
The short term goal is to have the blog making 50 bucks per month in passive income within 6 months. That doesn’t sound too ambitious, but keep in mind that this is a free blog and there are no expenses here and I will be starting completely from scratch with it. Also keep in mind that I will not be investing a ton of time up front in order to do this, so if it works, then 50 bucks per month is very good money indeed.
Also keep in mind that if this works, I will be duplicating these efforts many times over in order to raise my monthly income (who wouldn’t do this?).
My long term goal is to have this blog making 100 bucks per month within 12 months. Modest but still exciting, in my book.
So for right now just realize that I opened up the blog with a fairly long and rambling post of good quality content, and I’m going to proceed to throw a number of different links at the blog, starting with the one in this post. You will notice that I used good anchor text to do so, and I will be creating other links with different long tail keyword phrases in them that I already know are somewhat profitable.
Based on my existing knowledge of these keywords I know that I will be hitting my 50 bucks per month goal with just 100 visitors per day, or even slightly less than that. That might not sound like a ton of traffic but keep in mind it must be targeted search engine traffic in order to make any decent money from it.
We will see how long it takes me to get there. Let’s say we would like to see 50 per month in passive Adsense income by October 1st of 2009, that will be just over 6 months or so.
UPDATE: My good friend Art is getting in on the case study and he has his own blog about heroin addiction help that he is going to try to rocket to success. I will report on both our progress here.
