Do You Need a Daily Publishing Quota in Order to Grow Your Online Income?

by Patrick Meninga

I think everyone who is serious about creating an online income needs a daily publishing quota.

Right now my quota is 3 articles per day, every day.

At one time though it was as high as 25 articles per day. That was when I was on vacation from work and I was pushing hard to get my monthly online earnings to go above $1,000/month. Thanks to that hard push where I published over 500 articles in a month, my online earnings eventually broke $2,000 month.

I never would have got to that milestone unless I had been pushing myself to publish articles like a madman. You have to get a little nuts in this business in order to succeed. Publishing 2 articles per week is going to make a really long road out of your journey, and you may never reach any sort of tipping point.

Momentum is important. If you can publish a lot of articles every single day, then you can build momentum. Of course promotion is important as well but on a long enough timeline building links does not really matter. If you look at a 5 year view or longer than link building is sort of a waste of time almost. Yes it will bring you action much faster than if you dedicate all of your efforts to on site content creation, but in the long run you are actually better off just ignoring link building for the most part.

The best path in my opinion is to automate your link building and let others do it for you. You can do this in 2 basic ways, one is by creating outstanding content that sells itself, and the other way is using a service where you pay people to promote your website. If you follow my advice on building a business then you are going to be focusing on just one website, and ultimately I would urge you to use both of those 2 techniques. If your content is outstandingly good then promotional efforts run very little risk. If your content is only so-so then throwing links at your site poses a much greater risk. Therefore, the path forward should be clear: publish extremely high quality content (better than all of your competition is putting out, not very hard to do actually, simply do some quick research and figure out what you have to do to beat them), and then promote your site like crazy with the least amount of effort possible.

That means keeping yourself freed up to focus on content creation, and letting others do your promotional work for you.

So if you set up your workflow and your business this way then it means that you are free to focus on creating on-site articles. The best way to grow a website like this is to set a daily publishing goal and then meet it, over and over again.

My suggestion for the newcomer in this business is to work themselves up to 3 articles per day, on their own website, and make sure the quality is outstanding. If you cannot do the every single day then keep plugging away at and you will likely get faster and more efficient and at some point you should be able to do 3 articles per day. They don’t have to be super long, but they do have to be super good.

Once you are publishing 3 articles per day, don’t stop. Not ever. If you keep that up then within a year or two you will have a serious income stream, possibly even a full time income. If you keep up your daily publishing of 3 articles per day minimum then within 5 years or less you will almost certainly have a very nice full time (and mostly passive) income.

Think long term. Think years. And then push yourself to publish every single day. This is the secret to online success.
