So I am quite pleased that my January earnings topped $300 dollars for one website, I currently have a few more websites in the works and I’m also trying to grow my big earner as well.
I am torn between targeting the long tail versus gunning for the big keywords that will drive big traffic once you are ranking at the top of the SERPS for them. So I have tried to do both by making a new keyword-targeted post each day, while also building links for some of these big, heavy-hitter keywords. My online gurus tell me that this is where they money is at for making Extra Income from your websites, so I have been chasing the big keywords lately.
Well it looks like that effort is finally paying off as I bounced onto the first page of Google results yesterday with my main keyword I am targeting. Now I say “bounced” because it quickly bounced off the first page and then later it was back on it again in position number 6. My hope is to eventually get it up to position number 1 or at least in the top 3 as those get the majority of the clicks.
Now Google is seeing the links I have built for this keyword and they are shuffling the serps around and this is why I am bouncing a bit. I am confident that as I continue to build a few more links it will settle in on the first page of results and then I can work from there. Getting it up to the top 3 is going to be another challenge all on it’s own of course. My main make money guru online says that this bouncing around is quite normal and if you continue to build links then it will settle in at a good position.
After I am dominating the serps for that keyword I will move on to another one. This is how to build up passive streams of income and earn money online. I am confident that within another year my income will at least double to $600 per month, though I am shooting for closer to $1,000 per month at that point. Within 2 or 3 years I plan to retire (quit my day job) and earn my income exclusively online.
Of course this only makes sense, if you are working part time on your websites, and your online income starts exceeding that of your 40 hour per week day job, you would be a fool to keep wasting those 40 hours per week NOT working on more internet marketing.
I refer to this magic moment as the “crossover point,” where my online income exceeds my day job income. When I get there I am going to take my laptop to the beach and at that point I will post a nice pic of paradise for you guys so you can have more incentive to build up passive income streams!
