What I’m focusing on lately is in growing my passive income streams from my online websites. Yesterday was Saturday and that is usually a lousy day for my Adsense money, it is usually only a couple of dollars or so and then it picks back up during the week. But I was ecstatic to find that I earned over 15 bucks for Saturday…this is simply phenomenal and shows that my average earnings per day is definitely creeping steadily upwards.
I have 2 strategies right now that I am working on simultaneously, both seem to be working out pretty well:
1) Target new keywords with a new post each day, AND
2) Build links to high traffic, competitive keywords that I am trying to rank for.
I’ve been told by my online gurus that strategy number 2 is where the real money is at, but right now I make all of my income based more on strategy number 1. So I will continue to pursue both ideas.
Apparently ranking for passive income is going to be quite a long battle, Google rates it as being a 7 in terms of competitiveness based on a scale of 1 to 10. Many of the top ranked sites for the term have very low or even no pagerank, but that obviously doesn’t matter. What matters are the quantity and quality of the links pointing to those websites, particularly with the proper anchor text of “passive income.” This is what eventually brings a site to the top of the serps and that is what will eventually bring in a nice steady stream of….you guessed it….passive income!
If there is one thing I am not yet clear on it is how to find the best keyword to target for a new niche website. I use the Google Adwords keyword tool, which is supposedly the best predictor of search volume (when set to exact match) but I am not really experiencing the results I thought I would in all cases. It seems like some of the data is hit or miss and so I guess I just have to experiment in order to find my own results. Still searching for the perfect keyword to target in order to bring in some niche money through Adsense and keep the passive income rolling….
