Freedom is being able to ignore your alarm clock, or not even set one, every single day.
That is true freedom and if you are earning money online then this is arguably going to be a big goal for you.
At some point you have to ask yourself:
“Do I want to buy lots of stuff, have all sorts of electronics and monthly subscriptions to go with them, travel on lots of vacations, etc. OR do I want to be free?”
The fact is that if you quit your day job and start building a business instead it can be a lot of fun. In fact it can become an adventure and it might even involve travel at some point.
But if you stay trapped in the “consumer cycle” then you are not likely to be able to make much of your online earnings. Instead, they will end up going to just inflate your lifestyle.
The consumer cycle looks like this basically:
Work 40 hours per week or more -> Buy stuff, waste money -> Keep having to work just in order to pay your bills and live your life.
The internet marketing lifestyle can look quite a bit different if your goal is to build up an alternate stream of income and use that income to liberate yourself from your soul-crushing day job.
Thus the internet marketing cycle might look like this:
Build online businesses -> life frugally, invest/reinvest money -> quit day job and be free to build more online businesses.
If you follow this path then at some point you will build your businesses up to the point where you are actually earning more than what you used to make at your day job.
This becomes increasingly possible once you reach that “breaking point” where you can effectively walk away from your day job and spend all of your extra time building up your business.
There is another principle too that makes frugality extra important when it comes to building wealth with internet marketing, and that is from the perspective of investing and reinvesting.
If you are earning extra money online and you simply allow it to go into lifestyle inflation and get that temporary happy boost from “living large” then you will not be using the money to reinvest into your business and grow it. Alternatively, you could also be taking part of your online profits and investing in something outside of internet marketing for even more stability in your life. This is a wasted opportunity and if you have some extra online income coming in then it can be fairly easy to use some of that money to grow your business even further. This is simply smart business and is why the “rich get richer.”
Don’t just squander extra online income, invest it and reinvest it into your business in order to solidify your earnings and purchase more and more freedom for yourself.
