Make Money Online in 2010

First of all, just want to remind everyone that it is pronounced “twenty-ten,” not “two thousand and ten.” Not sure why I am so freaked out about this but I think it is important. “Twenty ten” just sounds so much better to me!

Now that we have that out of the way, let’s talk money. I experienced quite a bit of growth in my online income for 2009, going from about 300 per month up to around 600 per month in earnings. I just finished out December of 2009 with earnings of over 600 dollars. These are passive earnings; if we add in my freelance income it is closer to a thousand per month, but of course that fluctuates a bit and is not really the end goal here. The biggest goal in front of me right now is to hit the elusive $1,000/month in passive earnings, and I’m confident that I can get there in twenty ten.

Why am I confident? Because I learned what works and what does not. I have to admit that I am always reading MMO blogs, looking for the next big thing, looking for the easy way to make a killing online, and so on. But the reality is that I tested and tried all sorts of stuff over the last few years, and I also had some experiments in 2009 that involved a ton of work.

For example, at one point I added 40 new articles to my main website and created 2 backlinks to each article. This had a profound and immediate affect on my adsense earnings. It was dramatic. Was it a lot of work? Yes it was. But it produced awesome results.

Later on in 2009, I decided to add even more content to my main site. So I added just shy of 300 articles all in one month. Because I was focused on volume, I did not take the time to build backlinks to these articles, but instead just cranked out as many as I could. Again, this had awesome results, and the following month my income shot up by about 30 percent and was my highest earnings ever.

Both of these experiments show the secret to making money online in 2010. You publish lots of content on your websites and build links to those articles. It is a lot of work but it pays off.

If you add a thousand articles in one year but do not make any links, you will make money and experience huge long term growth based on adding tons of content. If you add less articles (say 500) and also build links, you will also make money, and you will realize earnings quicker, but your long term growth would be a bit stronger if you skipped the link building and put that energy into more content for your site. Either path is fine, one is focused on fast income growth, the other is focused on long term growth and building a bigger footprint for your website for huge future earnings and creating massive authority with Google.

Bottom line is you need to be doing one or the other. Publish content, build links. There are some shortcuts out there but they all suck. Put in the hard work and you will make bank in twenty ten.

That is what I am gonna do. My main site has a thousand articles and I am going to push it up to at least 2,000 articles and over a million words of unique content this year…..

Sounded like you had a couple of interesting experiments. I’d like to see more written about the processes you used with more examples. I am sure many people could benefit from info like that.
