So I am constantly reading new material on how to make money on the internet and also how to best use your time in order to maximize your effectiveness as an internet marketer. Of course I have read the 4 Hour Work Week and try to apply those principles to my online websites.
But I get particularly interested in applying these concepts to my unique situation in my day-to-day activities. Right now my current situation is this:
1) I have one website that is producing about $300 per month in Adsense income. I also have about 5 additional websites that are not yet generating enough search traffic to really try to monetize them just yet. I use some for link building and others I am trying to snipe a particular keyword and eventually rank well for it (in the hopes of monetizing that traffic with Adsense).
2) I currently wake up each day and write a post for my main website. It is generally for my readers and not really a keyword targeted post. I don’t necessarily try to build links to that post. I only try to build links to maybe 2 percent of all the posts I have ever written. So I constantly wonder about the value of each post. I think it might be less than what most people think it is worth.
3) Later on each day after I come home from my day job I try to build links and network a bit and start new sniping websites and so on. I think these are the activities that really create long term income potential.
Someone said in a post the other day that they are going to focus their efforts on only things that they think will have a direct impact on their future online income. This makes sense to me but it can be hard to predict.
To some extent, I think you have to experiment a bit and end up putting out some losers along with your winners. Not everything you post online is going to become a cash cow for you. So you have to cut yourself some slack and allow yourself time to grow.
But what if you already have a steady income from your internet business but want to grow it? This is the journey that I am on. I am diversifying a bit because I know the risk of having too many eggs in one basket, so I’m trying to grow a couple of smaller keyword sniping style websites that can hold their own and bring in a few hundred per month by themselves some day. That is my hope anyway. In the meantime I intend to continue to grow my main authority website in the following 2 ways:
1) Rank for new keywords in the serps.
2) Rank better for existing keywords in the serps.
Number one is about writing new content and building links, while number 2 is just about building links.
Either way, I need to build some links. And if you want to make money online, so do you……
