Making Money Online Mini-Course: Lock in Your Success Online – One Site Approach and Focus on Quality from Day One

So by now if you have been following the entire mini-course you are actively working on a single website, and hopefully some income is trickling in and you see that your only job now is to scale this up and multiply those earnings.

* Do you need a daily publishing quota in order to be successful?

There are just a few key points that I want to go over here in this wrap-up for you to keep in mind:

1) Just focus on one website. If you choose your topic carefully and know that there is money to be made in your niche before you start, there is no reason to spread your efforts too thin by starting lots of websites. It is easy to be convinced that you should have multiple websites and thus “spread your risk out,” but I believe this is a mistake. When you focus on a single website, all of your promotional efforts help. All of your link building helps. All of your new content published helps. How is this different from a multi-site approach?

Because when you have multiple websites, you cannot give each one your full attention. You cannot give each one the attention that it truly deserves. A single website can be like a full time job. If you treat it with that level of respect then it is much easier to turn it into a full time income. If you have ten websites then none of them are going to hit the “big time” and if one of them does, then it just proves that you were wasting a whole bunch of time with the other 9 sites.

Pick a topic carefully, something you are good at, and then focus all of your efforts on that single website. The goal is to create one authority website.

2) Focus on quality. It is so easy to give this idea lip service without actually doing it and following through with it. But if you let the quality slip as you try to scale up the volume, you will pay for it later with a massive penalty or even being completely de-indexed.

If your website is remarkably good and offers real insight that is unique to the web, you will do well in the long run. If your content is just “me-too” stuff that can be found elsewhere with a quick Google search, then how will you really differentiate your website and rise above all the web spam?

Quality matters and volume matters. Both are equally important. It is tough or impossible to do both, but that is the challenge that you are facing, ultimately. Produce mountains of content, and make it good.

Finally, you need to just keep plugging away once you have this thing up and running. This is pretty easy to do if you actually like your subject matter and stay “plugged in” to your industry and your topic. Keep things fresh and keep putting up new content.

Once you have established regular traffic, new article ideas will reveal themselves to you. People will leave comments on your site and this will give you new fuel for fresh articles.

Also, your tracking logs and analytics data will give you insight into what people are searching for. You can find long tail searches in your tracking data and then make new articles based on those keywords. Thus you can expand your site based on real data you are getting.

More and more, the search engines want a “real” website and they are fine tuning their results to shift away from the big content farms. So, don’t look like a farm. Don’t put up every single article and have it be exactly 600 words long. Use some pictures. Use some videos. Make some videos. Experiment. Explore new ways of delivering content.

Use quality as your guideline and shoot for high volume. Really those are the only keys to success. If you can create LOTS of outstanding content, you will make money eventually.
