Making Money Online Mini Course: Getting Premium Links for Your Website

Do you even need premium links pointed at your website?

Yes, you absolutely do. “Build it and they will come” is not gonna work here. If you build a fantastic website, nothing will happen. No traffic will show up. The search engines will not send you mountains of traffic unless you get some really good links pointed at your site.

KEY POINT: Getting just one or two “premium” links will help to legitimize all of the lower quality links that you might have pointing at your content.

Spam abounds on the web. If you build up a website and then point lots of cheap links at it, nothing will happen. The only way to rise above all of the “me-too” spam is to get a GOOD website to link to you.

So what is a “premium link?”

It is a link that:

* Is from a “real” website. Not a junk site or directory site.

* Is from a website on the same basic topic as yours. Closely related is fine too, so long as it meets the other criteria.

* Is from a site that has at least some Pagerank showing in the toolbar. Not critical, and not especially important, but a quick way to gauge link juice (though not very accurate any more).

* Is from a website that ranks somewhere on the first page for your main keyword. So if your website is about meditation, and you do a search for “meditation” in Google, your goal should be to get a link from one of the sites that is displayed in the first page of results….regardless of all other criteria.

Got that? A link from a top ranking site in Google over rides all other criteria. Do a search for your main keyword and then see what comes up. Those are the sites you want links from.

Just focus on getting ONE link from one of those sites. It does not have to be a site-wide link either, like in the sidebar. Just from an article is perfect. Comment links don’t count for our purposes.

How to get a premium link

My recommendation is to do the following:

* Find websites in your niche that accept guest posts.

* Choose the best website that accepts guest post and start following their new content. Start leaving quality comments on their content. Shoot for 300 words+ with each comment, make it really good, truly insightful. Do this every week for at least a month.

* Email the website owner eventually and ask for a guest post opportunity.

Obviously there is a lot of room in there for plenty of creativity. But the basic idea is that you want to “wow” them with quality comments left on their site first, and keep doing that for a while, and then hit them up for the guest post. They will be much more likely to oblige you after they notice that you are leaving lots of quality comments on their website.

Sounds like a lot of work, right? It is. It is a big pain to go through all of this and possibly get rejected at the end. But it is worth it because most people are not willing to do this stuff. It is worth it because a single premium link like this is worth a fortune to your online business.
