Lately I have been making money with internet marketing in some non-traditional ways. Or rather, they are not my preferred method of making money online but they seem to be paying out for me.
For example, I was contacted out of the blue by someone who wanted me to write some articles for them. Now normally I have dabbled a bit in the freelance world and I did a brief stint where I was making about 5 bucks per article. But this guy offered to have me write quality articles for $25 dollars each. He wanted 15 of them right off the bat.
Not only that, but this guy wanted me to write about my own niche. My personal area of expertise. This was too good to pass up.
So I took him up on it, and cranked out the first 6 articles this morning in about 3 hours flat. That is a solid 40 bucks an hour, but it is hard work.
Now on the other end of the spectrum, I have my passive income stream from my main money site, and it has been right around the $500/month ballpark lately. Well I had a coaching session recently with Mark from TKA and he opened my eyes to a business opportunity. He said that instead of using contextual advertising where the ad company takes about a 75 percent cut, why not contact the advertisers directly and cut out the middleman? Doing so can be a win-win for both the publisher and the advertiser, because the ad broker is removed from the equation and they were taking such a huge chunk of the money.
Now of course this takes some effort to set up, you have to negotiate and strike a deal with someone and get them to pay you every month. But if you can do this then you have a direct source of income, and you also increase your monetization options.
For example, if you start a contract with a company to advertise on your site, then obviously they will pay better than your default ads that you used to use. If they did not pay better then you would not make the deal. So if the deal happens to fall through, you have automatic insurance against going broke because you can always just revert back to your old ad program.
Pretty exciting stuff and I am going to be negotiating in about a half hour here so I will report back soon with my results. There are about 25 businesses who advertise in my niche, so if this one falls through then I can move on and approach the next one on my list.
Lessons learned:
Stop thinking like a blogger and start thinking like an internet marketer.
AND
Work smarter, not harder, by pitching your services to anyone and everyone. It just takes one deal, and you could quadruple your income overnight…..
