Marketing Strategy for 2010

The real Josh Whitford says I should expound a bit on my website experiments that produced the most income growth in 2010, so I am going to do that right here. Josh has some awesome tips and sound marketing strategy himself, so be sure to check him out.

I have 2 suggestions for you to make money online in 2010. These are 2 separate techniques. They both involve real work. Darn.

Here they are:

1) Make a huge list of keywords that are both somewhat profitable and somewhat easy to rank for. Write an article targeting each keyword and then build links to that article with various anchor text. Rinse and repeat. I am shooting for at least 1,000 such articles in 2010, and I already have that many right now on my money site (not this site). It is work, but it produces passive income. This is really the whole secret.

2) I have seen this following tip before but I have actually used it to make money, so I am going to re-share it with you.

Find an article on your website that is getting good search engine traffic and making some money already. Let’s say the post is titled “My Best Marketing Strategy” and the keyword you are targeting is “marketing strategy.” Go to Google and type in “marketing strategy” (without quotes) and do a search for it. When the results page comes up, click on the little plus symbol that says “show options.” Under those options, look way down until you find something that says “wonder wheel.” Click on that.

Google will spit some new keywords out at you that are connected to your main keyword. Write them all down, there should be about 8 of them. You can click on each word and go deeper, but that is not necessary for this.

When I do this, I get the following 8 keywords:

marketing tactics
marketing mix
marketing plan
marketing strategy definition
sales strategy
marketing research
sample marketing strategy
marketing strategy template

Take your 8 new keywords and go back and edit your article that is getting good traffic. Add in all of the keywords to the post. Make it sound natural and add a few sentences around each keyword. This added content will perk Google’s eyes right up.

THEN, go build some links, using the 8 new keywords as your anchor text.

That’s it. You will enjoy increased rankings, as well as a slew of NEW traffic based on these new keywords you added. Google loves to see a variety of anchor text in your links, plus they love new content, so this technique is really safe. It uses both.

So those are my 2 marketing strategies for 2010. I am going to use them both to take my income from part time to full time. I will keep you posted on that of course…..stay tuned.
