I tend to dabble in internet marketing, looking for both active and passive ways to make extra money.
If I set up a system of sorts in the online world, and it continues to produce income for me, then that is a valuable passive income stream. But if it is a blog, say, that relies on new posts and basically produces income through advertising, then that is not very passive. Blogging is work, of course.
But yesterday I had a major victory that might have just been luck. I spent very little time to set up a system, and I invested 6 dollars in pay-per-click traffic. I made 25 dollars in commissions from a single sale of a product.
I don’t own this product and I did not have to ship it. All I did was drive customers to the offer, and one of them happened to buy it. This resulted in a 25 dollar commission.
Is this truly “passive,” as I had to do some initial work in order to set it up? In my mind, this qualifies as passive income, because the initial work is quite minimal and the long term pay off can be great. Imagine tweaking such a system to product 10 such sales a day.
Now imagine finding 10 other products to promote, and getting the same results with those. It might take some initial work to get it rolling, but then you are eventually in a maintenance phase with it, and the income becomes passive and recurring. (Yay!)
So I will definitely be keeping you posted on this experiment as it develops further. Stay tuned.
