Passive Income Growth Projections

So with January coming to a close my monthly Adsense figures come out to just over 300 dollars.  This is based on just over ten thousand unique visitors, with 7,000 coming from search engines.

Now this 7,000 from search engines is important because basically that is all we are concerned about.  The other traffic is not as valuable when it comes to monetization and so we prefer search engine traffic if we can get it.  There is plenty of money in Adsense and if we have search engine traffic then we can convert it into dollars.

More search engine traffic = more money.  Simple as that. Get targeted traffic to your adSense blog and you will make money.

If you get flooded with bunch of social traffic (such as through Stumbleupon) you might get a good feeling from seeing so much instant growth but in reality it will not make you any more money.  And so what we are concerned with is growing our search engine traffic over the long haul so that we can grow our passive monthly income.

Now my goal of course is to make a full time income from my websites so I’m looking back over the last 6 months and seeing how much I have grown in that time.  I would like to know, specifically, when I’m going to quit my day job.

So I opened up Google Analytics and looked at the previous six months for my website, then I narrowed it down so that I was just looking at search engine traffic.  Turns out that my monthly search engine traffic has increased by an average of 600 visits per month.  That is only 20 visits per day and that is a very sustainable growth pattern.  I already know that is an easy growth level because I sustained it quite easily over the last six months.

So looking ahead, we can see that in one year from now my search engine traffic will exactly double, as 12 months X 600 more visitors per month is 7,200.  That is the level I am currently at so in one year I should be right around double the amount of search engine traffic.  This will also mean approximately double the income.

Now in reality I am hoping for a bit more than just double the income.  I think this is also a realistic goal because as traffic increases I might be able to add another revenue stream or two to the website.

So right now I am at $300 per month and within one year I am shooting for at least double that or a bit more.

But here is the really exciting part: This growth model is sustainable year after year.  In fact, I’m looking at adding another 300 or so to my online income for every year that I continue to work on it.  This is not bad at all for a part time gig on the side and eventually it will be producing more money than my day job.

Based on these figures, I’m estimating that is going to be within 2 or 3 years from now.

At which point I will retire and focus exclusively on growing my online empire in order to make money with adsense.  That is the plan anyway and if things go well then this will happen even faster than I am predicting.

So, it’s been a year. Did your traffic double?
