Race to a Thousand

So my main money site is humming along, making pretty decent money, and I figure it is time to really push it and expand my reach. I currently have about 1,000 existing articles on the site and I would like to double my monthly income. (So that I am firmly in the land of 4 digit monthly earnings).

Easiest way to do that? Court of make money online fame says to double the size of your site. As long as you are targeting new and juicy keywords with each new post of original content, why the heck not? It should work.

So that is my goal for 2010: write and publish 1,000 new articles. And hopefully double my income by doing so.

So I took a few days before the new year, did the keyword research, and organized my next 1,000 posts to be written. I am off to a pretty fast start so far and I just did 3 days in a row of writing 20 articles each day. That takes about 5 hours to do 20 posts and really is my mental maximum for one day. After that my brain is mush.

So I have my 1,000 keywords all laid out in a slick Excel file, and as you can see in the pic, the file automatically calculates how long it will take to meet my goal of 1,000 posts based on how many articles I am cranking out each day. Writing 3 per day is my bare minimum. Writing 10 is an admirable goal, or so says Allyn Hane of video blogging fame. And when I am getting totally crazy and have the day off, I can sometimes push it to 20 articles in a single day.

race

I really want to hit this goal of having 1,000 new posts published as quickly as possible. In the past, adding as little as 40 posts all at once resulted in a sizable jump in income. Adding 300 posts in one month had even more spectacular results, which I experienced just about 90 days ago. Those results are still going strong, and growing.

With a strong and slightly aged website like mine, it makes sense to go nuts with lots of long tail action like this. Google just eats it up. Because I continue to build links as well, I would expect that doubling my income at the end of this experiment would be a conservative estimate….fingers crossed on that. My buddy Josh over at his marketing blog says that I should hit this goal without any problem. Let’s hope he is right.

And here is the visual motivation that I use to log my progress with.

board

Each box represents 20 articles, so each slash represents 10 articles written. Just gotta fill that bad boy up now.

So who wants to race? I will take on anyone out there (except for Ben, of course, of make money online with seo fame).

Holy Shiz that’s a lot of posts. I sure hope you picked converting keywords at that rate, ha. I am sure at any combination of keywords selected you’ll nail a few homers. I cant wait to see a before and after of this experiment. Is this all going to one site? x number of posts? or to a whole bunch of different sites/posts?

Yeah, it is all going on to one site, Josh. I will have to show you the details via email at some point.

For sure, I’d love to help when possible. Hit me up sometime.

That’s an awesome goal and I’m sure you will reach it.

I love the way you have set yourself up a nice visual board to keep track of your progress. Those types of things really motivate me. Best of luck, the results to your passive income may surprise you!
