Well I have had a strange couple of months I suppose. Last month I broke $600 in passive income and the two months before that I did $500 per month. I had a week there last month where I thought for sure I would maintain that level and keep increasing it and do close to $800 for the month of November.
Well it is not happening, strangely enough, but that is the way with passive income. It ebbs and flows. It is not constant, consistent growth. But of course it will trick us into thinking that it is, and that it should be, because you might experience a few months in a row of steady growth. But it is not always to be. It dips back every once in a while.
Here is the thing though: every time I have hit a new high with my passive earnings, it seems to dip back a bit before it reaches back up and stabilizes. Then within a few months I will look back and see that the overall trend was indeed upward….in spite of a dip or two.
This has happened to me over and over again and yet I still get discouraged when it happens. I should learn by now, you would think, that fluctuations are normal and that my overall growth is going to keep rising. But it is frustrating.
I have a few things going, any of them could be variables that affect my earnings. One is that I use Yieldbuild, which is a service that optimizes your ads for you to make more money. That is still in the testing phase and has not yet optimized my ads all the way.
Two is that my host has been acting a little flaky lately, and although I optimized my money site for speed, it was still loading somewhat slowly. There was frequent 2 to 4 second delays where the server just would not budge, and nothing was happening. Websites that analyze this sort of thing suggested I get a new host. So I am currently doing so, we will see how that all turns out.
And of course I have been adding more content to my main money site. My new minimum is at least a hundred new articles each month. I think I am going to shoot for doing 3 per day from now on, and 6 per day on my days off work. Of course my work schedule is changing again too so that should be interesting as well. This level of output is right around 130 new posts per month. You keep that up for 6 months on a site that Google already likes, and you are going to see some substantial growth….no way around it. I am building links but not too aggressively. The ones I do get are from legit sites, not article directories…so that is a good thing.
All in all, things are still looking good. No major complaints. Going through a slight dip here but I am forecasting big things for the holidays.
