What Should You Focus on For Passive Income Growth?

What is the value of internet marketing activities?  As Aaron Wall recently suggested, it depends on what your goals are.

For example, if you have a website that sells widgets, you might have a goal of selling X amount of widgets every day.

Or, if you make money off of search engine traffic from contexual advertising, you might have a goal of getting to a certain level of daily search engine traffic.

This happens to be my main goal and right now I am averaging around 300 search engine visitors per day on one website.  This is not enough to meet my current goal of generating a full time income from my websites so I am looking to expand this number.

Now my goal is very focused here and it would be easy to get diverted but that is not the case.  Some would suggest that I start pitching affiliate products to try and make extra money with the same level of traffic.  This does not appeal to me thought and my goal is to produce a full time income from contextual advertising alone.

Instead of developing and selling my own product I am choosing this route because there are much less headaches with it.  If you can pull it off then you don’t have to deal with customers.  You have very little to do with the ads or with the products and services being sold in them.  If customers get mad for some reason they do not come back to you as you were just the publisher where the ad happened to appear.

So I am trying to build up my search engine traffic.  There are 3 things I’m focusing on here:

1) Adding daily content to target new keywords

2) Building links to try to rank for high traffic keywords

3) Building new mini-sites to try and snipe out a sinlge, high-traffic keyword.

Now the make money gurus that I follow seem to say that #2 on that list is where the money is really at, but so far in my experience I am making 300 per month by excelling at #1 on that list.  I make my money from a variety of different posts and keyword searches instead of on “big keywords” as they suggest.

So I am a bit lost as to how to proceed so I am trying all 3 strategies currently and will attempt to measure which ones provide the best return on my time spent.  Building links is difficult for me but creating new content and new mini-sites is relatively easy.  Given that, I am guessing that the biggest payoff for making more passive income lies in link-building.  But like I said I am focusing equally on all 3 activities right now so in about 6 months I will know if the payoff was worth it in making money with my internet business from home.
