Why Frugality Matters When Building an Online Income with Internet Marketing

The majority of people who are attempting to make money online are looking to get more of the following stuff:

1) More money.
2) More time.
3) Freedom from day jobs.
4) Freedom from debt.

Etc.

If any of those 4 things (or all of them) are your goal, then you would do well to employ the concepts of frugality in your life.

People think that “frugality” is such an unpleasant term, but you must not think of it that way. Being frugal is part of what can eventually change your life and set you free.

Think of it like this: Let’s say that you work a day job and that you earn roughly $2,000 per month. You work 40 hours per week and you are basically exhausted. You decide to start an online internet marketing business in the hopes of creating a ticket to freedom.

Now if you put in the work and write a few articles each and every day then in a year or so you start to see a powerful income stream. Let’s say it is $600/month at this point but it is steady and slowly growing.

Money is not really a problem because you have your day job and now you also have this extra $600 each month.

But as the money continues to grow you decide at one point how nice it would be to have your freedom back from your evil, 40 hour per week day job. What if you did not have to work at all?

So you take a look at your monthly expenses. Rent, utilities, groceries, gas, insurance, car, and health stuff seems to be running you around $1,300 per month. But in addition to that, it looks like you are actually spending close to $1,000 dollars over and above that on all sorts of stuff. Most of it happens automatically. For example:

* Your netflix subscription (that you seem to use less and less).
* Your cell phone bill.
* Cable bill.
* Weekly trip to the shopping mall for new clothes.
* Eating out a few times each week.

And so on. This is the pile of stuff that is keeping that you chained to your day job.

If you cut all of it loose, and scale back to the bare minimum with your monthly expenses, then you could potentially buy your freedom much sooner.

The other important point regarding frugality is that once you do take the plunge and quit your day job, now every penny counts. Now, every red cent that you spend each month has to be covered in full by your business. That is a tall task and online earnings do fluctuate at times.

So for me it always came down to: I could buy a bunch of stuff or I could buy my freedom. I chose to buy my freedom by seriously curtailing my spending habits. I do not live in poverty and I do not live a shabby life by any means. But I also spend money very, very carefully these days. My cell phone bill is $27/month out the door. I have no other monthly subscription costs other than the that besides the basics: rent, groceries, etc.

You can either “live rich” and buy a bunch of toys and get all the HBO channels, or you can truly be wealthy and buy your liberation with your online income.

Realize too that the sooner you buy your liberation from a day job, the sooner you can make a full time effort at internet marketing, and really start making serious cash.

Frugality matters.

Embrace it.
