I had the idea a few years ago that I would like to supplement my day job income with some sort of side business, and thus I started investigating if it was possible to make some money using the internet. I found that there were many people out there who were making a killing online, but that there were also a lot of scams too.
At first I tried to develop a product and sell it on Clickbank. This worked out horribly, especially since I had no experience in doing this sort of thing and really had a pretty lousy product idea to boot. But I did not lose much money on the deal and I actually had one sale, so on the whole it was less than a one hundred dollar lesson in what not to do. I am sure others have made good money developing digital products and selling them through Clickbank, but this was my first attempt at making money online, and my lack of experience really showed.
My next attempt was to create a website that was to become a real online destination for people and I was going to make big money off of it. Well needless to say, that website has been through some ups and downs and has grown into my flagship website and it does make a decent part time income from passive earnings. But the amount of hours and resources that I have poured into that website would make most people cringe in horror. You have to realize though that the time is going to pass anyway…do you want to sit and watch television or do you want to build a future income producing asset for yourself? I chose to produce an asset and now that website is bringing in regular money every single day, not quite enough to live off of but certainly enough to cover the rent and a bag of Cheetohs here and there.
Somewhere along the way I also tried writing some freelance articles and this paid off really well for me. I don’t necessarily spend much time doing this anymore as I am writing for my own websites (and even paying others to outsource more content for my sites) but at the time I made decent money by writing for other people. Certainly it is an option if you are hard up for cash and you can write fairly decent about a variety of topics.
